PlayStation 3 Outsells Wii In Japan For the Second Month in a Row

For the second month straight, the Sony PS3 gaming console has outsold the world-leader Nintendo Wii. For the 4 weeks leading up to April 26th, domestic PS3 sales reached 108,530 while Wii sales were only 67,116. PS3 was boosted by a trial launch of the upcoming game “Final Fantasy XIII,” the newest installment in an immensely popular series.

Figures from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain show the April margin between the two to be considerable. Enterbrain’s figures, via Reuters, put the PS3 at 108,530 consoles sold compared to the Wii’s 67,116. It’s been purely about software the past quarter, as Sony has recently benefited from titles like Resident Evil 5Musou Orochi Z and the Final Fantasy XIII demo.
