MTV Games and Harmonix have announced The Beatles: Rock Band will have two standalone guitars made available alongside the forthcoming Liverpudlian music rhythm game. The Rickenbacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet, played by John Lennon and George Harrison allegedly throughout their respective careers, are set to go on sale when the game launches in September for $100 bucks a pop.

EA Redwood Shores (aka EARS), an internal development studio within EA, was suffering a bit of an identity crisis. Known for making some of EA’s best and brightest stuff — including last year’s Dead Space and the upcoming Dante’s Inferno — the studio just didn’t feel right with such a… lets just say a less than descriptive name. That changed today, as its parent company EA announced a rebranding of the studio, now dubbed Visceral Games and a new logo.

Former Factor 5 lead environmental artist Jericho Green has cited some interesting information in his LinkedIn experience. He now works for EA Los Angeles (Medal of Honor: Airborne) and is working on an untitled Medal of Honor game. Medal of Honor: Airborne received mixed reviews overall, it will be curious to see how this shapes up. No word on any platforms, but if the previous title and the fact that it’s EA we will most likely see this out for most platforms.

After a week of extremely high PS3 Sales, it looks like the ride is finally over, the high of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children finally ran of steam, and sales are a bit back to normal, but the PS3 still continues to out sale the Wii but by a smaller margin. I still guess many Sony fans will continue to be happy. But on the bright side Wii, PSP, and PS2 sales pick up for the week.

For the second month straight, the Sony PS3 gaming console has outsold the world-leader Nintendo Wii. For the 4 weeks leading up to April 26th, domestic PS3 sales reached 108,530 while Wii sales were only 67,116. PS3 was boosted by a trial launch of the upcoming game “Final Fantasy XIII,” the newest installment in an immensely popular series.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that we will not enter the next console generation until 2013. Investors are getting a bit worried as video game software sales seem to have peaked for the current generation. I don’t think they have, but when compared to last year, sales are down in 2009. Now, some people could freak out and start looking toward the PS4 and Xbox 720, but remain calm the economy is way down and we have to wait for it to improve.
