EA’s iron lock on the world of video game football continues with NCAA Football 10, and they’re still of the mindset “if it sells well, don’t fix it.” Plus they’re piling on more features with each iteration, and that means soon you’ll have a football game in there somewhere, buried under mountains of minigames, training modes, fantasy football managers, mascot uniforms, and cheerleader tryouts.
DICE has said that it learned its lesson with Battlefield: Bad Company and plans to do a better job on the sequel. Which is great news considering the fact that when Bad Company came out, it only had one multiplayer mode, kinda boring after while. Wouldn’t you say so.
Filling out two massive lobbies and a handful of demo rooms Thursday at its Los Angeles Studios, Electronic Arts showcased 24 games in preparation for the June 2009 Electronic Entertainment Exposition event.
Each game fanatic who likes online gaming, and shooters Battlefield next month can enjoy the latest offspring of the Battlefield series: Battlefield 1943. The games developed by DICE and published by EA are always a success. This new game is only on the PlayStation Network (PSN) and XBLA and only $ 15. Translated for European markets is that only € 11.20.
EA has been making a killing in the PC gaming space (unlike its performance with music-based games), the company revealed during its recent financial earnings report. Shacknews has reported that EA has seen profits from digital distribution on the PC platform double over last year to $80 million, whereas the company’s digital distribution revenue on the whole has generated $400 million for the company this fiscal year.
EA embraced the Wii last year and the Wii embraced it right back, with the percentage of revenue due to the Nintendo console nearly doubling over the previous year.
EA’s expected to announced a loss for its fourth fiscal quarter tomorrow, with a Reuters poll pointing to a 43 cents per share downside on sales of $631.9 million.
Former Factor 5 lead environmental artist Jericho Green has cited some interesting information in his LinkedIn experience. He now works for EA Los Angeles (Medal of Honor: Airborne) and is working on an untitled Medal of Honor game. Medal of Honor: Airborne received mixed reviews overall, it will be curious to see how this shapes up. No word on any platforms, but if the previous title and the fact that it’s EA we will most likely see this out for most platforms.
